New energy cooling heat sinks are specialized thermal management systems designed for EVs and renewable energy tech. They use high-conductivity metals, liquid cold plates, and microchannel cooling to remove excess heat. These prevent battery degradation, protect inverters, and maintain optimal thermal efficiency.
EV Cooling Methods
Electric vehicles operate at high power levels, making thermal management crucial for extending battery life and supporting fast charging. Heatsinks in EVs are typically designed using the following methods:
- Liquid-Cooled Cold Plates: The most common approach for battery packs and powerful inverters. These aluminum or advanced carbon-fiber plates use integrated micro-channels where a coolant (often a glycol mixture) flows to absorb and carry away excess heat.
- Air-Cooled Heatsinks: Often utilized for smaller controllers, electric motorcycles, or auxiliary systems where forced air is passed over finned aluminum blocks to cool the components.
- Immersion and Phase-Change Cooling: Advanced, next-generation systems where electronic or battery components are in direct contact with a dielectric coolant, providing ultra-fast heat extraction.
